Archive research – digging deeper

Based in Birmingham, I have easy access to the archives and Record Offices of the West Midlands as well as the main London repositories including The National Archives, London Metropolitan Archives and. I also visit local archives such as the City of Westminster Archives Centre and Southwark Local History Library and Archives.

London Metropolitan Archives

The London Metropolitan Archives (London Record Office) hold a range of items comprising maps, images, films, books and, of course, documents relating to London from the year 1067. The collection is housed on c.105 kilometers of shelving. The collections are useful for family historians as well as house historians and others. Registration for an access card is straight forward and the staff are helpful and friendly
